This glossary provides readers with concise, spoiler light definitions of key concepts, factions, locations, and entities within The Infinite universe. This document serves as an example layout for web and print presentation.
First Breath
The moment between the forging of the Star of Convergence and the birth of Aether Prime
Breath
A Breath is the smallest unit of time used across the universe.
On most worlds, a breath is simply the time between two sunrises—one full day. It represents a natural cycle of light, rest, and renewal.
Some worlds do not experience normal days. These planets may exist in constant light, permanent shadow, or irregular stellar patterns. On such worlds, breaths are defined by local environmental or cultural cycles instead of sunrise. Because of this, the number of breaths in a Season can vary from world to world.
In short: Breaths are local. They change depending on where you are.
Season
A Season is a universal phase of time shared by all worlds.
There are nine Seasons, each one reflecting one of the Nine Expressions. In the original harmonic design, each Season lasts thirty-six breaths. However, since breaths differ from world to world, the experienced length of a Season can vary.
What does not change is the Season itself. Seasons remain consistent across the universe because they are anchored by the Star of Convergence, whose resonance stabilizes the flow of time everywhere.
In short: Seasons are universal, even if they feel different on different worlds.
Cycle
A Cycle is the complete passage of all nine Seasons.
Unlike breaths or planetary calendars, a Cycle is not affected by orbit, gravity, or distance. It represents a full turn of cosmic progression—a period of change, growth, and meaning rather than simple measurement.
Cycles are often used to mark major transformations, both personal and cosmic, and are recognized as the truest measure of time across creation.
In short: A Cycle is a complete universal year, measured by meaning rather than motion.
Primal Expression
A Primal Expression is a fundamental aspect of cosmic reality embodied by the Primals.
In the earliest moments after creation, the Primals began to differentiate through resonance, coming to understand themselves as distinct expressions of cosmic force. Each Primal embodies one of nine Expressions: Time, Thought, Energy, Emotion, Form, Sound, Balance, Memory, or Possibility.
The Primals are not gods. They were the first beings to awaken within a universe still learning to hold form. Their Expressions define both their identity and how they experience creation, guiding their understanding, purpose, and evolution.
In short: a Primal Expression is both what a Primal is and how it perceives the universe.

Secondborn
Mortals elevated by the Aetherians to serve as guides and defenders across the galaxy. Though long lived and powerful, they remain mortal.
Soulless
Living beings whose souls have been corrupted or consumed by Erebus influence. They retain fragments of memory and skill, making them especially dangerous.
Resonance
The fundamental energy that binds all existence. Resonance manifests uniquely across species and worlds and fuels both creation and corruption.
Void
The primordial absence from which all existence emerged. Though fractured by creation, echoes of the Void continue to hunger for what was lost.
